Unity in diversity

Slovaks from all around the world, who met in Bratislava in July 2002 at the standing conference "Slovak Republic and Slovaks living abroad", put their heads together and agreed, that they need a tool to be able to speak out efficiently and for their words to be taken seriously. A tool of global nature, i.e. an organisation of Slovaks living and working all around the world. An organisation that will join them in the effort to be useful to themselves and their beloved Slovakia, an organisation that will create preconditions for an efficient cooperation and mutual communication. An organisation that will be able to speak with one voice, despite different historic, political or religious preferences of its member entities, and regardless of when the latter have left Slovakia into which direction.
Well, hence the World Association of Slovaks Living Abroad came to life. Members of the Association are Slovak associations operating abroad, but also personalities of the Slovak community who use their respected words to the benefit of Slovakia also beyond the compatriot organisations.
The fact that SZSZ became a member in the Euopean organization „Europeans throughout he world“ shows that we don’t strive for our goals by ourselves. Rather we see ourselves as active part of a trans-european movement supervising and advancing all kinds of Europeans – viz us too, all Slovaks around the world.
